Trump, who has joined hands with NBC Universal to sponsor Miss Universe.

How will Miss Universe 2008 benefit Vietnam?
Vietnamwill be the centre of attention of audiences in over 170 countries and territories around the world for the 30 days of the contest.
Vietnamwill be advertised by over 80 “ambassadors” who are competitors and over 800 international journalists.
More than 1 billion people will follow the final night, which will be aired live on NBC, on July 14, from 9-11pm, including a nine minute clip about Vietnam and Vietnamese culture.
Millions of foreign visitors will come to Vietnam to see the contest. |
For one month, every day competitors will have to attend various programmes organised in the three above cities, including: visiting the Presidential Palace, the Prime Minister’s Office, the People’s Committees of some cities, some charity organisations, attending fashion and music shows, parties, gift auctions, shooting films to advertise Vietnam, participating in parades in Nha Trang city (Tran Phu road) and Hanoi (around Hoan Kiem Lake).
They will have to drill and participate in a rehearsal for the final round (July 8) and the coronation ceremony (July 14).
Competitors of Miss Universe 2008 will have to work under a busy working schedule. A member of the organising board said it will be difficult for the host country, Vietnam, to find a representative who is sufficient in terms of health to participate in the competition.
Vietnamese access to modern event organising technique
Tran Kim Minh, Chairman of Company 584, the builder of the Crown Convention Centre, the major stage for Miss Universe 2008, said expenditures for this project will exceed the estimated $7 million.
Nearly 1,000 workers are working both day and night to try to complete the work, which includes a major stage, conference hall, media centre and five-star resort, before May 30.
The organisers have set many strict rules for the event, for example: media agencies have only five minutes for taking photos or filming each part of competition on the opening day and are not allowed to take photos or film during the final round (July 8) and rehearsal; journalists of online newspapers are not permitted to enter the Crown Convention Centre during the coronation ceremony in the morning on July 14 (Vietnam time).
The 9-minute clip about Vietnam which will be broadcast on NBC channel (USA) will not have the logo of any firm. The scenario for this clip is to be written by Vietnam and then transferred to NBC for filming in Ha Long, Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang, Can Tho and Kien Giang.
Strict conditions are nothing compared to the great benefit that Vietnam will gain from this event.
